Terrava Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 2026 · Outpost Labs LLC

Terrava is built by Outpost Labs LLC ("we," "us," or "our"). We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how we handle it.

Data we collect

Account information

Terrava requires an account to use. We collect your email address and a username you choose. This information is stored securely in our database (Supabase, hosted on AWS). Your password is encrypted and never stored in plain text.

Location data

Terrava requests your location to show nearby plant sightings and to tag your own sightings on the community map. When you log a sighting, the approximate location is stored and may be visible to other community members. You can choose not to grant location permission, though some features will be limited.

Photos you upload

Photos you share in community posts are uploaded to our secure storage (Supabase Storage) and are visible to other Terrava users. Photos submitted for plant identification or claim verification are sent to Anthropic's API for analysis and are not stored on our servers after processing.

Plant discoveries and journal

Your life list, claimed species, and stewardship posts are stored in our database and associated with your account. Your profile — including your username, discovery points, level, and life list — is visible to other Terrava users.

Subscription data

If you purchase Terrava Pro, your subscription is managed through Apple's App Store. We use RevenueCat to verify subscription status. RevenueCat receives an anonymized identifier for this purpose. We do not receive your payment information.

How we use your data

  • To provide the core features of the app — life list, community feed, plant discovery
  • To show community sightings on maps for plant species
  • To verify plant identifications using AI
  • To calculate and award discovery and stewardship points
  • To manage your subscription status

Data we do not collect

We do not run advertising SDKs or sell data to third parties. We do not use your data to target you with ads.

Third-party services

  • Supabase — database and file storage, hosted on AWS. Privacy policy
  • RevenueCat — subscription management. Privacy policy
  • Anthropic — plant identification and verification. Privacy policy
  • iNaturalist — reference photos and nearby observation data, fetched without identifying information.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account at any time from Settings within the app. Deleting your account will permanently remove your profile, life list, and posts.

Children's privacy

Terrava is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will update the date at the top of this page when we do.
